Friday video: Liquid mountaineering

A couple of weeks ago I posted a video of some kids appearing to float around by the use of helium and bubble gum.  As you know by now, that video was a fake.  However, it was a finely crafted, professional marketing fake.  It generated a lot of buzz, millions of people watched it, and then came the admission by the bubble gum manufacturer that it was phony.  But look at all the free publicity they got – it’s a gold mine in terms of marketing their product.

Here is another video that was done with the same purpose in mind, and was also hugely successful.  Over 5 million people have viewed this video, and all it cost the shoe company was the cost of production.
