I have lots of different Google accounts. I have created different accounts because I use them for different purposes. There is no limit to the number of Google accounts you are allowed to have. The most common use is to have a separate email account for online purchases, since that account will probably get a lot of spam.
Ever since Google started offering their free accounts, there has always been a limitation that you could only log into one account at a time. I don’t know if it was a security precaution or what the reason was, but it has always been a pain having to log out and log in when you’re using multiple accounts.
Now, that has changed. Google recently added an option in account settings to allow multiple simultaneous account logins.
1. Go to your Google account (or your Gmail account, same thing) and log in
2. Look for the Settings link in the upper right corner:
5. In the next window, check the button designated as “On”. You will also need to check the 4 boxes below that, which explain some of the functions/caveats that go along with having the feature turned on. Then, click Save.
In order to actually start using this new feature, you may need to log out of your Google account and log back in.
