With Windows 10, even though you may have already been using this computer for quite some time, you might get a message that wants you to “finish setting up your device”. Here’s how to get rid of it.
This is what the notice looks like:
Of course, none of this is anything you need to do. It’s just more marketing and invasiveness from Microsoft. They want access to your phone, they want you to buy a Microsoft 365 (Office) subscription, they want you to save all your stuff on their OneDrive cloud storage. It’s up to you if you want any of that (you probably already have the Office subscription anyway).
Here’s how to get rid of that pop-up:
In the lower left corner, click on “Remind me later”.
Click the Start button, then the little “gear” icon (Settings).
Click on System.
On the left side, click on Notifications and actions.
In the list of Notifications, UNcheck the box that says “Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of Windows” –
In fact, you can uncheck all of the items in that section if you want. That’s what I did.
No more pop-up to finish setting up your device!
