415 My browser just went full screen – now what?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

One minute you’re viewing a website and everything seems normal. Then suddenly the website takes up your whole screen. What happened?

Google Chrome

It can happen with Chrome or just about any other web browser. Everything seems like it’s working as it should, then seemingly for no reason, your web browser window is now taking up your whole screen. And to make things worse, the controls that are usually at the top of the browser window are completely gone! What is going on?

In most cases, there’s a really easy explanation for this. You just accidentally hit the F11 key on your keyboard.

Next time you’re viewing a website with Chrome or whatever other browser you use, tap the F11 key and see what happens. The browser fills the window, and the normal menu items at the top are no longer there. This is a handy feature, if you want the website content to be displayed as largely as possible.

So what’s the fix? Just tap F11 again. Everything goes back to the way it was.
